DSA (ALP) Admission Criteria

We are looking for applicants who possess and display

•          An interest in doing research (in sciences or humanities)

•          Critical and creative thinking skills in problem solving

•          The ability to collaborate with others and contribute actively in a team

•          Clear communication skills when discussing and presenting ideas

 

DSA (ALP) Application Process

Applications have to be made via the MOE DSA-Sec Portal between 8 May 2019, 9am to 4 June 2019, 3pm.

DSA (ALP) Selection Process

Phase 1 – Shortlisting of candidates based on written/typed essay

DSA (ALP) candidates to:   

1.  submit an essay on a given topic (in sciences or humanities) to demonstrate their ability to present research clearly, and to think critically and creatively to solve a problem. 


Phase 2 – Shortlisting of candidates based on performance task 

Only shortlisted DSA (ALP) candidates from Phase 1 will be notified by email/ telephone call to:

1. complete  a group task with other students to demonstrate their ability to do research on a topic, collaborate with others to problem solve and think creatively,

2. complete an oral presentation of the group’s proposed solution and findings using a medium of their choice

Application is open for all Primary Six female students studying in national schools, Returning Singaporeans, Permanent Residents and International Students.

Applications should be made via a common online portal from the 2019 DSA-Sec Exercise by MOE.

Phase 1 – Shortlisting of candidates based on written/typed essay and portfolio

DSA (ALP) candidates to:  

1.       submit an essay (soft copy via email or hard copy by hand) on a given topic (in sciences or humanities) to demonstrate their ability to present research clearly, and to think critically and creatively to solve a problem. 

2.       provide any other relevant documents (e.g. certificates of participation or portfolio showing evidence of interest in projects involving problem solving, research and communication, etc.).

Phase 2 – Shortlisting of candidates based on performance task

Only shortlisted DSA (ALP) candidates will be notified by email/telephone number to:

1.       complete  a group task with other students to demonstrate their ability to do research on a topic, collaborate with others to problem solve and think creatively,

2.         complete an oral presentation of the group’s proposed solution and findings using a medium of their choice

All shortlisted DSA (ALP) candidates will receive the email by 26 July 2019 (Fri).

Notice of Selection Outcome for DSA-Sec application

Letters will be issued to all candidates informing them on the status of their application:  

(i) Confirmed Offer (CO), (ii) Wait List (WL) or (iii) Rejected.

21 October 2019 (Mon)

Issuance of DSA School Preference Form through applicant’s primary school.

by 25 October 2019 (Fri), 3pm

Exercise of DSA School Preference by applicants (via MOE online system).

21 to 25 November 2019 (tentative)

Release of DSA school posting results by MOE.
